The beaker Bong has a body in the shape of an Erlenmeyer flask, which also serves as the base of the Bong. The Bong is therefore pyramid-shaped and is, due to the resulting low center of gravity, more stable. In addition, beaker Bongs can usually be filled with more water, which cools the smoke better.
